Health and Human Rights Course
An intensive course exploring linkages between health and human rights and building skills in rights based monitoring and use of international and national instruments, designed for health and human rights activists.This intensive 2 weeks residential course focuses on the relationship between health and human rights. The course identifies and discusses the complex interactions between health and human rights.
The modules consists of broad areas that are covered are:-
Introduction to human rights which covers history and philosophy of Human Rights,International Covenants, Justice System and UN complain mechanism.
Introduction to health which covers Political economy of Health and Health care,Public Health and health care, Health Financing, Health Care- Universal access and equity and Concept of Right to Health and Health Care
Exploring health and human rights violations with various vulnerable groups Dalits, women, children, Sexual minorities,Urban poor, displaced,HIV/AIDS,Physically disabled. The section also covers Medical Ethics and Human Rights and Torture on Health and Human Rights Issue.
The last section is on the Monitoring right to health and health care which covers basic elements of human rights monitoring and fact-finding,monitoring right to health care, overview of budget and monitoring and Indian Judical Monitoring mechanism.
