CEHAT has been working with the health system to improve the healthcare response to violence against women and children. We have reached out to over 3000 survivors over the past 18 years and have established an evidence-based model of intervention that has been recognised at the national and international levels. The model, first set up at K.B.Bhabha Hospital, Bandra, is currently replicated at 11 peripheral hosptals in Mumbai. We partner with three public hospitals to offer comprehensive healthcare response to sexual violence. We also provide round-the-clock telephonic support to survivors reaching the hospital.

We are currently looking for an interventionist with two years of experience of having engaged with various stakeholders and formal systems such as the police, hospital, child welfare committee and public prosecutors. The role requires ciris intervention at the hospital with an understanding of the role of healthcare providers vis. a vis. violence against women and interface with other agencies towards ensuring a holistic response.

The role provides a unique opportunity to reach out to the lives of survivors of violence and work towards implementing best practice through quality interventions.

Qualification

Post Graduate in social work / social sciences/ psychology. The candidate should be fluent in Hindi, English, Marathi, possessing excellent communication skills - oral and written, and must have a sound perspective on the issue of Violence Against Women in general and Domestic and Sexual Violence in particular.

 

Preference will be given to persons from minority caste and religion women candidates.

Job Responsibilities and key areas of work:

  • Crisis counselling for survivors of Sexual Violence and Domestic Violence in person and over the telephone.
  • Facilitation and coordination of multi-agency response (such as health care professionals, police, legal aid, shelter services, follow-up for emotional support) to respond to survivors of Sexual Violence and Domestic Violence.
  • Carry out documentation through drafting of case studies, reports and articles.
  • Be a part of the training and research team and undertake relevant activities on the issue of VAW.

Salaries will commensurate with qualifications and experience, starting from Rs. 48,000/-
