Sexual Assault Care and Forensic Evidence or SAFE Kit

The Sexual Assault Care and Forensic Evidence or SAFE Kit is a 'Model Kit for Comprehensive Care and Documentation of Evidence in cases of Sexual Assault'. The kit was designed to address issues of care and documentation in relation to sexual assault. It was originally adapted by CEHAT from the kit used by the Ontario Provincial Police, Canada. Ever since, the kit has gone through several rounds of review and feedback by forensic doctors, gynaecologists and obstetricians as well as human rights and women's rights activists from Mumbai and other parts of India to suit the needs and requirements in the Indian context. The SAFE Kit is a scientifically sound and easy to use model kit for the examination and collection of evidence in cases of sexual assault and it consists of the following components:
