Journal of Health Studies: An eSS-CEHAT Publication

The Journal of Health Studies (JHS), a multidisciplinary, peer reviewed periodical publication is being launched by eSocialSciences, an open access multidisciplinary social sciences portal for the Centre for Enquiry into Health and Allied Themes (CEHAT), a research centre of the Anusandhan Trust with a long history of pioneering research on the health and healthcare in India.

JHS acknowledges the interdisciplinary nature of health issues and is intended to provide a broad based, vibrant space for contemporary and historical inquiry on health themes through the publication of research articles, case studies, research briefs, commentaries and, policy notes and discussions. Philosophically, JHS is located within a perspective that prioritises justice and equity. The aim of the journal is to define and help shape the expanding field of health studies in Asia retaining a special interest in South Asia. For this, JHS will, from time to time, being out special collections in emerging areas. The academic and intellectual needs and demands of academia and social movements will drive the journal.

JHS welcomes conceptual, theoretical and empirical contributions in the broad areas of Economics, History and Philosophy of Medicine, Sociology, Gender Studies, Policy Studies, and others. Also welcome are empirical and field notes and small studies. While academic formats of research communication are preferred, JHS will encourage research work in other formats: essays, narratives, etc. JHS has a special section for student papers and contributions, and will be offering a range of resources for young scholars.

In keeping with the times the Journal of Health Studies is an online/print journal. JHS will be a new kind of journal making full use of the advantages of Internet without sacrificing those of the print medium. This will enable us to be shorten the time between submission and publication of an article, and to provide the widest possible readership for relevant and high quality research work.
